Commissioner Joe Knight is the Jefferson County Commission Finance Chair and believes in sound fiscal policies as it relates to county government. He also chairs the Budget Management Committee, the General Services Committee, the Development Services Committee, the Emergency Management Committee and the 911 Emergency Communications Committee.
He is the liaison to the Board of Registrars, the Circuit Clerks, the District Attorney, the State Courts and the Probate Court. He is an advocate for animals and continues to be a supporter of efforts to establish a new facility for the care of our furry friends.
In addition, Joe serves on the Executive Committee for the World Games 2022, is the vice-chair of the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau, a board member of the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham and a past member of the Cooper Green Mercy Healthcare Authority.
Originally from Miami, Florida, Joe grew up in Pascagoula, Mississippi and has been a resident of Jefferson County for forty-five years. He and his wife, Caryl, live in Trussville, have three children and three grandchildren. They attend Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church.
Joe is an attorney and has been practicing for thirty years. He is a former Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and serves as the General Counsel for the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
Joe is a member of many professional associations, is a member of the Jefferson County Republican Party and the Trussville Rotary Club. He enjoys golf (not very good), reading and hanging out with his grandchildren.

Commissioner Joe Knight is the Jefferson County Commissioner representing District 4 which encompasses Fultondale, Gardendale, Morris, Kimberly, Warrior, County Line, Trafford, Pinson, Palmerdale, Clay, Grayson Valley, Trussville, and parts of Center Point, Irondale, Tarrant, Leeds and Birmingham.
